“It is very important to help those in need, especially when you have the resources to do so. When I was growing up, watching what my mom and More for the 504 did for the community every year made me realize just how special and how beneficial donating could be to others. Seeing how they could help others through pure kindness was memorable, and I now feel lucky to have the opportunity to do the same with my sisters.”
“My mom’s favorite part about More for the 504 was always meeting and talking with different people. Whether that be with the kids at New Orleans Women and Children’s Shelter, the counselors at Live Oak Camp, or the members of the Roots of Music band, she loved connecting with others. With Even More for the 504, I get to experience what my mom was so passionate about. It makes me happy to see the impact we are able to make on others in the New Orleans community.”
“My favorite part about Even More For The 504 is that I get to experience something so similar to the process my mom did with More for the 504. She always really enjoyed More for the 504, whether that be hosting group meetings or organizing check presentations. My mom grew up in this city, and I want to make it better for my generation of New Orleanians.”
Born and raised in New Orleans, this city always had a special place in our mom’s heart. New Orleans was her happy place. She loved the unique culture and charm that made the city like nonother. Her favorite times of year were Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest, where she could always be found dancing on the streets, decked out in costume, or singing along in the Gospel Tent.
Our mother always taught us to find something we are passionate about and work to make an impact. She embodied this through her involvement in several different non-profit organizations. She was a founding member of More for the 504 and an active leader on the board for several years. More for the 504 is an all-female giving circle with the mission to encourage women’s involvement in philanthropy through grants to non-profits in New Orleans. In the past years, More for the 504 has donated to The Roots of Music, Live Oak Wilderness Camp, New Orleans Women and Children’s Shelter, Electric Girls, and Communities In Schools of the Gulf South. Our mom was deeply devoted to More for the 504’s mission because she loved the city of New Orleans, always looking for ways to help the community.
